SCCM OSD Errors a big nasty list

error-codesosdsccmtask-sequence

Description: 0x80091007  The hash value is incorrect

Baisically this error indicates a mismatch between files required for the task sequence and what is available on the DP. This happens to me most often when i've updated a package that the task sequence is using either during a deployment or prior to starting it but after checking policy for the system.  It is best to update your DP and make sure that the status has updated to installed before starting a deployment, and just leave the packages alone during the deployment.  I have seen reference to this being cause because the DP was not updating properly. If this error is not being caused by YOU updating stuff you will want to check the DP log the file you should be looking at is distmgr.log and is located at <ConfigMgr Installation Directory>\Logs

Description: 0x800700A1

This error is caused when the task sequence cannot resolve the package source. Check your paths and that the files in question exist in your package.

Description ox00000032

This error indicates ERROR_NOT_SUPPORTED, I got it while trying to run a install software step. You must be in a full os to use the install software step. I was trying to use it to run a diskpart action on the drive with a VB script. Still looking for a way to do this without modifying the boot.wim.

Solution:

Ensure that you are in a fulling running os to install software. Normally you are in the full OS after the setup windows and config manager step.

Description ox8004005

This error is pretty generic, i've seen it described as that thiing your were trying to do...it didn't work.

Description ox80072EE7

Unknown host (gethostbyname failed)
sending with winhttp failed; 80072ee7
This is a network error most likely DHCP related but it could be other Network problems as well. Check you DNS suffix, and that you can resolve the DC and MP. F8 is your friend.

Description

Error 0x80070032 from task sequence. Will most likely be near the begining. This error indicates that sccm cannot copy required files to a drive, either because it is unavailable or not partitioned or formatted. You can also see this error if the drive has been encrypted. In my case it was being caused by securedoc.

Solution

Fix the drive...If it's encrypted you could use diskpart to clean the drive. Boot with winPE or just hit F8 from the TS error if you have command prompt enabled, to get to a command prompt that is able to execute the commands listed below. It won't work from within the OS because you can't wipe the disk you booted from.

diskpart

diskpart -> list disk

select the right one

diskpart -> sel disk 0   <-- select the drive # that matches the one you want usually 0 but not always - be careful, unplug your usb HD to be safe...

diskpart -> clean

diskpart -> create part pri

format fs=ntfs quick

assign letter=c (required to use drive without rebooting, otherwise not required)

active

The above steps with format and partition a drive after clearing it and should resolve tghe 80070032 error. If it doesn't you may have to provide SCSI or some third party mass storage drivers to winPE.

Description

You see the following error messages on smsts.log:
Or your task sequence fails with this error in the window:
Failed to open the Task Sequencing Environment. Code 0x80220005. Please ensure you are running this executable inside a properly configured OS Deployment task sequence.
Unknown error (Error: 80220005; Source: Unknown)

Exiting with return code 0x80220005

Process completed with exit code 2149711877

Failed to run the action: Apply Windows Settings.
Unknown error (Error: 80220005; Source: Unknown)

Solution

Make sure the computer name's length is not too long. If the length is longer than 15 characters, shorten it.

Affected software:

System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 R2
System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) 2007 R3

Description

Task sequence fails with error code (ox80070001)

Reason

We noticed that a couple of our applications started acting up after switching the advertisment properties to access the content directly from the distrobution points.

The deployment runs a lot faster when accessing content directly but results have been somewhat mixed. I really don't care if it goes twice as fast if it fails everytime....doh....

Solution

For now I have changed the advertisemnt back to download content locally. I will investigate why the ones that failed did cause problems. We had 3, 2 vbs scritps and an install msi.

SCCM OSD

Description

Error 8007054B  received from task sequence at domain join step.

I'm still investigating this one.....have a couple of strange things going on so nothing too concrete  yet. Google searches and Netsetup.Log indicate that the domain name is invalid. Not too sure how that's possible, i'm leaning towards DNS for a couple of reasons.

The log itself has erros about DNS name resolution not found, but most of the net setup logs i've seen posted had the same error.

The domain i'm attempting to join is part of a forest. I'm starting to suspect that the TS is having a hard time locating the right Domain controller. We are pushing a dns suffix that is required to keep our existing Novell infrastructure running, but is different from what the domain pushes.

I'm testing adding the dns suffix to the apply network settings step. I think i already tried this and it didn't help.

I'm also seeing strange behaviour where the domain join account is not updating and is not what is listed in the task sequence editor.

ONGOING>>>>>>>>

Update>>>>>>>>>>

Ok sorted most of this out....turns out I was getting some of my task sequence variables squashed by collection variables being set that i didn't know about...doh!

The domain name unknown errors ended up going away more or less on their own. I did experience some real weird network stuff for a bit. DNS worked but that was it, i could not get out to anything, no ping no real connection but showing as active.
