How to uninstall Windows 8 or 8.1 metro apps
I've seen a few powershell scripts to uninstall the metro apps in Windows 8 that are not terribly business related. I like powershell but I'm also a big fan of easy, I didn't need an array or a foreach loop to do the same thing with a dos batch file. Theses commands could also be inserted into the unattend.xml file, I prefer them as an app. I find the less messing around with your unattend the better and like to put as many customizations into place with group policy as possible. Windows 8/8.1 is still new (8.1 was released today 2013/10/17) so it you might need to make a few changes locally. I'm used to doing things without a domain controller to push GPO's and now that I can, trust me it's better. Any of to the batch lines can be instered as synchronous commands into the oobe stage with the windows system image manager which will remove them for NEW users. Sorry about the spacing it doesn't fit on one line very well...but paste it and save it as appX.bat. The version below is for Windows 8.1 enterprise. It will be a different package name for each version of windows. I will post the one for Windows 8 enterprise below. If the names are not matching up then you should pipe the output of dism /online /get-ProvisionedAppxPackages to a text file then delete everything but the names of the apps you want to remove. Then do a find and replace on packagename : with Dism.exe /online /Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage /PackageName:
