How to un-brick a Pivios xios media player DS
I have had one of these devices for a little while now. I had to install XBMC myself when I got it. I wanted to add XBMC HUB which is an amazing collection of add-ons. While installing it locked up and I was forced to power off. Afterwards the OS ran super slow and kept saying the launcher was not responding. Wait or close, choose wait. I ended up resetting it to default from the upgrade screen. Not sure what happened exactly but I powered it off again and then waited for a reboot. I left it all night and it still had not booted up.
Going on information from their support forum, which seems pretty good. I downloaded the latest upgrade and copied it to a fat32 formatted microSD card. It took me a couple of tries but it is still possible to use the upgrade button on the back to reach the upgrade menu.
Hold the upgrade button down with a paper clip. Plug in the power and continue to hold the upgrade button. You should end up in the upgrade menu. If not try it again.
After the update let the this sit powered on for 15 min or so to let it settle as they say. It seems odd to me..but whatever.
It's been sitting now for a bit....time to try XBMC again.
To install XBMC download the Android apk file from the XBMC site the use the app installer from the menu.
TO install XBMC hub, go to file manager and add source http://fusion.XBMCHUB.com then go to program add-ons and select the xbmchub wizard. Then go to settings add-ons and run it. There are a ton of good guides with screen shots. I'm not going to re-do one here. It's worth installing though.
