How to pass E-Test with check engine EVAP codes P0440 t0 P0455
How to pass E-Test with check engine EVAP codes. I learned a neat trick yesterday that I thought I would share for all the other Ontarian's who still have to get the stupid E-test done. It's such a money grab stupid program that the government really Fu$ked everyone with. In it's latest incarnation the don't even test you actual emissions just check your engine computer for trouble codes. So if your check engine light is on and the code is P0440 to P0455 then it indicates a leak or malfunction with the Evaporative Emission Control System which most likely is not affecting the way your car drive one bit. You will still have to address the problem though if you want to renew you license stickers, you could get a conditional pass by spending $400 or so dollars and hope you don't have to spend it again in two years. OR ( THIS IS THE GOOD PART) If you know that the ECU does not perform the Evaporative Emission Control System tests if the gas tank is more than 3/4 full then you can fill you tank, clear the code with an ODBII reader, then keep your tank above 3/4 until you go for your E-Test. Don't clear the code then drive to the test center, there needs to be a certain minimum number of Kilometers since the last ECU reset for them to pass you. Cheers, JAW
